  • Worked at GE Japan in the Energy Department after completing a Financial leadership program.
  • Graduated from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (MPA).
  • Worked as an intern at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and as a consultant atGeorge Soros’ Open Society Foundations.
  • Upon returning to Japan, joined the Japan Foundation for Public Interest (公益財団法人日本財団). Later, worked at the Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation (SIIF), where she worked on impact investments, impact measurement, and the management of venture philanthropy funds.In 2020, became the first Japanese person to earn the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) certification in the U.S.

  • Over 20 years of experience in product development and wealth management for high-net-worth individuals at Citigroup, UBS, and Credit Suisse in Japan's Private Banking and Wealth Management divisions.
  • Contributed to regional revitalization in Yamaguchi Prefecture through initiatives such as: Establishing employment facilities for people with disabilities,supporting children's cafeterias and creating community spaces, and Incorporating nonprofit organizations.
  • Launched new philanthropy initiatives for high-net-worth individuals at the Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation (SIIF).
  • Supported social entrepreneurs and led efforts in impact assessment and foundation management at SIIF.

Co-Chief Executive Officer and President 

Walter Sweet has served as a philanthropy advisor at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) for 20 years. He currently leads a team that provides a platform for donors to develop, launch, and promote philanthropic initiatives worldwide. Drawing on his extensive experience in building trusted relationships with foundations and families supporting various issue areas such as public health, community development, and education, he offers resources on regulations and best practices to advance and evolve philanthropy. He has been interviewed by numerous national newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, and has been invited to speak at philanthropy conferences both domestically and internationally.
